In search of new skin care products due to breakouts, I opted to try Alba Botanical products, especially since I had a 20% off coupon from Ulta. Besides, I have to switch my skin care products often due to product acclimation soI picked up the Alba Pineapple Enzyme Cleanser, Alba Hibiscus Facial Toner and the Alba Aloe and Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer .
I remembered my esthetician always used products with alpha hydroxy acids just before completing extractions. Alpha hydroxy acid products helps to remove old and dead skin. They also aid in the reduction of blemishes, wrinkles and help to completely cleanse the skin resulting in smoother, clearer skin. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are made of fruit acids and enzymes such as pineapple, papaya, and sugar cane.
I personally can’t imagine not using AHAs at least twice a month. Did I mention how much smoother it helps your foundation to apply?
I must say, the Alba Botanica products work together quite nicely. The Pineapple Enzyme Cleanser works really well to completely cleanse my face of dirt and grit. Because the product contains an AHA I dampened my skin, lather it on and let it sit on my skin for about 10 minutes to help in breaking down the dead skin cells. Once I wash it off, I follow up by squeezing a little of the Hibiscus Facial Toner on a cotton padand swipe it over my face and neck for a cool refreshed feeling. Previous steps leave my skin feeling a little tight so I finish up by using the Aloe and Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer and all is well.
Being that I use a number of really strong AHAs on a monthly basis to combat hormonal acne breakouts, it’s really nice to have a set of gentle products which compliment each other well in my arsenal. This combination of products have really helped to soothe and cool my skin when I use other products which contain a high percentage of glycolic acids/AHAs (i.e. – Glycolic Formulations 25% Therapy Cream) which often leave me with a burning/stinging feeling.
Do you use products which contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids?
