in her confessions

How long have you been natural?
i’ve been natural since Sept 2009 so about 16 months!
What made you decide to go natural?

i’ve always secretly wanted to be natural but didnt have the education of maintaining my thick hair so i let the myth’s of “too nappy”, “too much upkeep”, and “i just cant do it” poison my mind 🙁 it was my friend who pushed me to do it with her and i loooove her for that.

While natural, what is the one biggest regret /mistake you made?
honestly, i havent made any mistakes **shrugs** i mean, i dont know how to cornrow so i wish i had magic hands to do different styles but for the most part…i like to keep it simple and comfortable wit my 2 strands.
What is the craziest hairstyle or treatment you have done to your hair?
EEEK!! i did a permanent box color MYSELF **biting nails** i’d never done it before and was so scared but i made it happen, lol. it wasnt the greatest job and sometimes i miss my natural color…so would this go with regrets, lol

What is your current relationship with your hair?
im so in love wit my hair that my family n friends are sick of my obsession with it. if someone sparks a convo on naturalness my mouth is running like a track star. i love curly meetups cuz they share the same passion as me. when i first started my journey, i wanted nothing more than growth..im talkin long repunzel like hair. as it grows and i find i gotta do more work..i’ve gotten bored so stay tuned cuz a 2nd BC is on the way! omg…dont get me started on how much i love my hair.
What is the trick or technique are you most thankful for finding out about?
2 strands most definitely and detangling from tip to root. im so ashamed to say, i used to start at the roots n wondered why my head was hurting and left wit a wad of hair in the brush 🙁 never again!!
What specific products can you not live without?

What advice would you give to someone considering going natural?
please to the 10th power be PATIENT. research as much as possible. i spent hours and still do, researching the care and maintenance of my kinky coily hair. when i first bc’d i thought my twa would look like solange curls…umm NO!! dont let folks discourage you and your decision becuz trust and believe, we cant please everybody. I would put up this front like i didnt care til i realized **head and chest up** dmn it-its MY hair and i LOVE it. I’d also like to suggest starting a hair journal to keep up with regimen’s, styles and any other useful info you come across where u wanna take notes on. i took pics every month for a year to document my growth. i also keep track of my own personal product reviews so i know what works n doesnt. Im sorry but your not gonna learn ur hair over night. it took me at least 5-6 months to LEARN (throught trial n error) on how to maintain moisture but one thing im consistent with is a STRICT reggie!!

Where can we find out more info about you and your hair?
