My Mid-Week Retwisting Potion

in my hair

My routine usually goes:
Friday – deep condition overnight
Saturday AM – braid/twists it up
Saturday PM – unravel

This week my hair was in a braid-out that I fluffed out a little more than usual on Sunday so my hair was looking a tad crazy by mid week. So crazy, that I, the self proclaimed low-manipulator (of hair), thought it might be a good idea to retwist mid-week. I didn’t want to soak my hair in the shower but I knew my hair needed to be detangled somehow. I created a detangler/twisting concotion:

1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons aloe vera juice
2 tablespoons castor oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil
2 tablespoons coconut oil

Can I tell you how easy it was for me to detangle?! I was done detangling and twisting in 30 mins. I let my hair dry for a couple hours and then I added flexi-rods and went under the dryer. The pics above and below are the results of this mid-week twist up and out. Shiny. Soft. Bouncy. I like.  I’m going to be wearing my hair up for the next few weeks to keep hair off my neck.

What’s in your homemade concoctions?

I will be trying this mix. I recently made a rinse of aloe vera juice, water and tea tree oil and my hair felt wonderful! I am loving aloe vera juice.

I think I'm going to try your mix as a detangler or a quick oil rinse.

I definitely need some tea tree oil in my life. Might have to take a trip to whole foods this weekend 🙂

Hmmm… how would this compare to the ghee detangler? Do you still use it?

This post was before I started using the CTDG. I probably will be using this mix to moisturize my braids under the weave I am planning to have installed.
