Summer is my time to travel. The weather is nice. Flights are inexpensive. You can also find great deals on hotels, especially in the Caribbean (for obvious reasons). When booking these trips I most often use my American Express credit card. I have one card which awards miles and another which awards points. I’m totally on board for anything that awards me for spending on things which were already planned. That’s the Frugal McDugal in me 🙂
I visit American Express’ website quite often because I live by online bill pay. Recently I noticed their travel section offered a new service where you take a 15 question quiz; based on the information gathered, a travel sign is determined. With that information an AmEx travel consultant creates a travel itinerary for you with your destination(s) being revealed just before your trip. Definitely a trip for the travel adventurer! Of course, being the Frugal McDugal that I am, I wondered what the cost of something like this could be and I was surprised to find that they cater to all sorts of budgets.
I bit the bait — My travel sign was a Glamologist, described as “you travel the world digging for glam like it’s gold. Vintage jeans nourish your soul. You feast on flannel and faux fur and revel in the contrast. Anything to complete your look.” Fitting?
Yes, the results were right on. One of my good friends recently took a trip to Paris, France. Ever since seeing the awesome finds she returned with, I couldn’t help to imagine what my own personal experience to Europe would resemble.
Continue to read as I dream away:
Being that Paris, France the birth place of so many top brands in fashion, my first stop on my travels as a Glamologist would definitely be thrifting. It’s a lost art! I’ve never been to a European country, but I can’t begin to imagine the awesome treasures waiting to be found.
Trinkets and such are small embellishment which can be used to glam-up the most plain of outfits. Broaches and small pins would be on my list.
With London just a train ride a way, an overnight trip would be a requirement. Everyone may agree, many trends start in London and slowly make their way to the U.S. How cool would that be to be up close and personal with London Street Style, put your own twist on it, and then originate your own trend back in the States?
Along with shopping, there’s no doubt I would make my way to the famous landmarks. A trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the ‘Iron Lady’ and maybe a double-decker bus tour of the city.
Anyone that knows me knows that I. Love. To. Eat! I would absolutely patronize a new eatery for each meal of every single day of my adventure. I hear snail Escargot is big in France. In the West Indies, we have a dish which seems similar, its called Welk. It’s pretty much the snail of the sea. I wonder how different it could be from Escargot?
There you have it! Eat & Shop! Those are just some of the things I would do on my Glamologist travel adventure.
