How important is hair to overall attractiveness? Specifically, which styles (down vs. ponytail vs. bun) and lengths?

I think it’s important. What’s on a womans head does make a difference in a womans attractiveness. I would prefer down versus pulled back. Length doesn’t matter as much… it depends on who it’s on. Some people look better with long, and others look better with short.

Do you feel there is a ‘Natural Hair Movement’ currently occurring?  Why do you think so many women are going natural (i.e. Do you think most women want to make a statement or to just stop relaxing)?

I don’t think it’s a movement, I just think people are getting more educated on natural hair as being another option and are beginning to like it and embrace it more. I don’t think they are trying to make a statement, I just think it’s more to stop relaxing and be free of the limitations of having a perm, such as swimming, gym, and all that kind of stuff.

Would you support your significant other if she decided to become natural?

Absolutely… I already have!

Are you able to tell the difference in textures of hair?  If your significant other were to go natural, would the texture of her hair affect your opinions on whether she should remain natural or not?

I can tell the difference in textures of hair. The texture doesn’t make a difference. I think regardless of whether she is permed, natural, loose curls, tight  curls, it just has to be well kept…. And actually ‘done’.  Just do your hair. Any type of hair can be unprofessional if not taken care of.

Do you like or dislike when your significant other changes her hair style often (i.e. wigs, weaves, braids, flat ironed, wash & go)?

Since my significant other has natural hair, I see the versatility it brings and the different styles that she does. It doesn’t bother me at all. I actually like the versatility of natural hair.

Does the amount of time your significant other spends on her hair prove to be problematic?

No… she finds convenient time to do it, so that it doesn’t get in the way of what we are doing.

How do you feel about the amount of money your significant other spends on her hair? Is there a point where the amount of money is a source of conflict?  Is it acceptable for her to spend as much as she chooses as long as she looks fly?

No, it is not acceptable for her to spend as much as she chooses as long as her hair looks fly. When she had permed hair, we were close to spending $200/month and now that she is natural we don’t spend nearly as much. With that said I prefer natural hair costs because it is a lot cheaper. Especially since she works out she doesn’t have to go spend money at the shop every week.

Do you think your significant other should consider your opinion when making decisions about her hair?

Not really, I mean… the only problem I would have would be if she was going to cut it all off and put cheetah spots on her head. Outside of that… I’m really not gonna tell her what not to do with her hair. Only really extreme cases.

Why do you think women care about a man’s opinion when it relates to hair?

Because they want their men to like them .They want to feel attractive, and their hair is a big part of it.

How do you view women that wear weaves? Can you tell the difference between natural hair and a weave?

Absolutely, I can tell the difference. I prefer non weaves, I think weaves and fake eyelashes and stuff like that is just not my personal style because eventually all that stuff has to come off. I prefer natural beauty rather than fake nails and so on. But that is just my personal preference.

How do you feel about satin sleeping bonnets or any type of hair scarf?

Haha… good question… Ummm… they are ok. I know it’s a necessity part of hair maintenance and keep up, so I don’t necessarily knock it, but they do look funny sometimes! Haha!

Does it matter to you whether your significant other’s hair is relaxed or not?

It didn’t matter, but now that my significant other has been on both sides, I must say I like natural better. I’m a big fan of having an active lifestyle ie. gym training, swimming, running, ect. and in my experience I find that women with permed hair seem to limit themselves from active activities… Which just isn’t going to work for me.  So natural all the way. Zach, thank you for your input! Lol at “cheetah spots!”

Even though we are capable of being confident and comfortable with our natural hair, there is something to be said when our men admire and respect (even prefer) our natural roots! It means so much and helps us walk a little prouder when you love us for “us” and in our natural state.

Thank you again Zach and thank you Ms. Blog Vixen for such an awesome and resourceful site!

I agree! It’s always nice when you have people who truly support you in what you do!

I absolutely love it when a man is open to women wearing their hair natural. Like he said, its more about keeping your hair done.
