Before traveling, I stretched my hair using this method and followed by braiding with Qhemet’s Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee and curling the ends with perming rods. Essentially, this was a braid n’ curl on stretched hair.
While in the Virgin Islands
My siblings, cousins, and I all decided to go sailing on the high seas. I figured this would be the ultimate test to the holding power, moisture maintenance and overall performance of my beloved CTDG. Note, it was raining that morning (humidity) and the sea was fairly rough (windy).
The morning of, I un-braided my hair. No fluffing (see pic above). Once we got on the yacht, my hair blew in the wind continuously as we sailed to our first destination. It was blowing pretty wild and got a bit annoying so I slipped on a hair net after about an hour. It’s important to note that I stayed ABOVE deck for the entire 5+ hour sail.
Note: Chica pictured above is my cous who also happens to be featured in the FLY NATURAL FOTKI section of my blog (3rd row, 1st pic). Check out her Fotki album (LegallyBrown)!
At the end of the day, this is what my hair looked like. Yes! After all of the elements, you still are observing curls and other uniformed texture resulting from the braids. My hair felt soft, had body/bounce and I’m sure you see the shine! Can you understand why this is a staple moisturizer and styler in my regimen?
