Most may know I’m a native of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. This year I went down to the VI during St. John’s (USVI) Independence celebration. It’s a month long party on the island ending with a parade on the 4th of July in Cruz Bay, St. John. I brought along one of the bffs, Creed. You may remember her from our last vacay shenanigans to Chilligan’s Island lol.
Before traveling it took a good while to commit to a hair style. The weather is hot, humid, windy and I refused to have to do my hair daily. I waivered between jumbo box braids, cornrows, a twist-out or mini-braids/twists. I decided on mini-braids (see Instagram post) since the style needed to last 2 full weeks, be low-maintenance and allow me to go from the beach to a night out with no fuss.
Though my braids were not a mini as they could be, they were a great choice! Thanks to Honestly Erica for the inspiration. I took about 6 hours total to install them.
As I completed each braid I was literally dreading the take-down lol. I removed them on the last day of my vacay and it wasn’t as bad as I expected. It took about 4.5 hours to remove and no tools were used.
Anywho! Here are the pics I promised I would share!
On our first full day we headed straight for Trunk Bay. The water is ridiculously crystal clear and full of wildlife lol! I purchased this fringed suit from ASOS here.
We left the beach for a sunset cocktail cruise on the Caneel Bay Resort boat where we coasted the island with Captain Dorn for about 2 hours listening to steelpan band. But first we perused the grounds and grabbed a drink from the beach bar — one of thee best pina colada’s ever! So good I’m finally buying myself a blender lol.
The dress was purchased from Marshall’s and you can find a similar crossbody bag here.
