THE REVIEW

I’m not sure what I expected from this product, as my excitement about shampoo is very comme ci comme ça.  There are those that make your hair super, squeaky, un-manageably clean and there are others which claim to have conditioning agents that are just a step down from the former — but still nothing to write home about.

Ouidad has changed the game!

My Experience
This is the first product I’ve ever used from this line and I am impressed and intrigued enough to try more from Ouidad. This shampoo is sulfate-free and laced with key ingredients such as coconut oil and silk amino acids which helps hair to resist damage. It also is very fragrant — nothing resembling food though 🙂 But like any other shampoo, the scent doesn’t last.

I added a dime-sized amount of this product section by section to my dampened (un-pre-pooed) hair in the shower. The product immediately became sudsy. For good measure I lathered twice and on the second lather, full suds, my hair felt soft — almost as if I were using a conditioner 0_O. While rinsing, my hair maintained it’s softness with curl definition and NO FRIZZ. I inspected my scalp, considering it had been 3 weeks since my last shampoo, and it was as clean as a whistle.

If I didn’t know any better, I would have attempted a wash n go, but this is why I came back to my sense lol.

Final Thoughts
Though sulfate-free, this shampoo did not slack on suds, did the job of cleaning my scalp and hair,  and left my tresses soft and manageable. This shampoo is a keeper!

THE RVIEW

My Experience
I applied this product to freshly washed hair (see review above). In the jar, it appeared creamy like any other deep conditioner, but as it came in contact with my damp hair, it did not spread as easily as I expected. It actually behaved something similar to creamy Vaseline (O.O) — if that’s even possible. The scent is floral, but not overpowering.

I kept the product in overnight and rinsed in the morning, as usual.

I rinsed section by section in the shower. Immediately, as the water touched my hair, it felt like plastic! It was such an intrusively weird feeling, totally counteracting the good work of the Cleansing Oil I’d just used.

While under running water, the pads of my fingers were being overworked. I could absolutely detect the conditioner not rinsing from my scalp! I continued the effortful rubbing and rinsing, then stood in front of my bathroom mirror to find my scalp still covered in the conditioner. I hopped under the tub faucet since it has a little more water pressure. And it was only then that I was able to rid my hair of 98% of the conditioner.

Because my hair still felt like plastic, I had to co-wash my hair with using this deep conditioner product.

Confused, dazed, and tired I checked the label to refresh myself on what is in the product. It boldly states it is comparable to  Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery Treatment. Additionally, one side of the label boasts about unrefined shea butter and argan oil making the product “work”, yet on the other side of the label, the actual ingredient list does not have shea or argan anywhere. Huh?! If any of you ladies are an ingredient officiando, don’ t be shy, please explain — I’m lost.

Final Thoughts
Honestly, I think this product is bad news for the makers of Miss Jessie’s. After the way this dupe performed, though it is the cheaper version, I am not tempted in. the. least. to try the original version or any other products from the III Sisters of Nature product line.

3 sisters of nature label

3 sisters of nature ingredients

What are your thought on this ingredient list? Did I miss shea butter or argan oil being listed?

I am so glad that you liked Ouidad’s Cleansing Oil. I picked this up a few weeks ago, but the price made me put it right back down! At the time, I had not read many reviews on the product, so I was not about to fork over that much money until I read/saw some reviews. However, every review to date has been a winner! Now I did buy the Curl Recovery Whipped Curls with a gift card I had to use and honey, I am in love! A little goes a very long way and for the price, that makes me very happy. I hate that they didn’t send you both products to try, but since you live off of 400, you can come by my job at the hospital off exit 14 and I will let you try it for yourself! (I promise I am completely sane and harmless). Thanks for your very thorough and honest review.

Oh, and I got that III Sisters mess in a Curlkit and promptly gave it away!

i knew that ouidad would be a great product, but the price scares me! i’ll be more accepting of purchasing and spending that money on a product, because you confirmed what i thought about it. that brown packaging on the 3 sisters line always made me feel apprehensive! when products say they are just like another product, wording like that doesnt sit well with me and i dont really think very highly of miss jessies products either!

thanks for sacrificing your hair in the name of research! great review

I sure hope these people are paying you something or giving you free products for the advertising. You really should not do this for free. I you love a product and want to rave about it, you should call the company and talk to them and see what they can do for your website. Girl, don’t be crazy!!!!!

Girlie, you have a point!

I’m new to your site and wish that I had seen your review of the III Sis product BEFORE I put that mess on my hair. Because it began to smell slightly like relaxer, I rinsed it out after only 5 mins. My hair felt awful during a cool rinse – hard, waxy & tangled. I too had to use the tub faucet on HIGH to get it out and then had to co-wash to get that soft, moisturized feeling I had before I used it. I am loving your site & reviews. Take care.

This really show how different products can appear on different peoples hair. I am a 4b/c hair type. My hair is 4b starting from the center of my head, my hair is 4c at the front.
I used the 3 sisters of nature’s once a week treatment for the first time today & I used 4 pcs, my hair inbetween NL and SL. I was afraid to over-use it or use too little but it really moisturized my hair and defined my coils. I kept it in for about 30 min, I think it says 10-15 mins but we were having dinner lol.
I love it so much that I actually wanted to buy it, but I stay in Sweden so I have to get it online. That’s how I found this review.

Maybe 3 sisters did not work well for you because you did not follow the directions. I didnt read anything on the label instructing the user to leave it on overnight. This is just a suggestion when using products in the future to make sure you do not damage your hair. Some products are meant to be left on for longer periods of time. Thank you for your review I will be following directions more closely now since I have heard of your experience.

Thanks for sharing!

Very true that I didn’t follow the directions in the review. I have used the product since. I applied for a moment and washed it out immediately because I remembered my first experience. Guess what? My hair felt just as I remembered, even though the product was on just for a few moments. Hopefully you will have better results. Good luck!
