THE REVIEW

Superfruit Renewal Clarifying Shampoo ($18)
In true Ouidad form, this shampoo did not disappoint. Smells great. Lathers well. Rinses clean. The best part of it all? — My hair didn’t feel stripped. For this to be a clarifying shampoo, my hair felt quite similar to the way it does when using the Ultra Nourishing Cleansing Oil.

Melt-Down Extreme Repair Hair Mask ($40)
Not sure how I slept on this deep conditioner for so long — oh wait, I do know — the price! Putting that aside, this DC is pretty awesome! I didn’t overnight this one, just used my therapy wrap for a couple hours. When rinsing, my hair felt so soft and really well conditioned.

This Ouidad review was on a roll, until this happened…

Curl Recovery Whipped Curls ($26)
This item’s packaging is so appealing. It is essentially a leave in conditioner in a mousse can, which happens to be a thick butter with a base of shea. I applied it to a section of my damp hair, twisted, and I allowed it to begin to air dry. During application I was a bit unsure because there appeared to be a film coating my hair. I convinced myself that it will dissipate as my hair dried. Nope! It did not. My hair was limp and lifeless once 80% dried. I ended up rinsing my hair and using a leave-in I was more familiar with.

Curl Recovery Styling Souffle ($26)
Already disappointed with the previous leave-in product I still opted to use this soufflé as a styling product to finish off my twists on dry, stretched hair. Unfortunately, the results were similar to the Whipped Curls. After two twists, my hair felt like it was coated. I could tell the definition would have been SICK! but I just could not risk the possibility of having to wash my hair earlier than anticipated (every 2 weeks) due to it becoming dull and lifeless before its time.

REVIEW CONFESSIONS

All of Ouidad’s shampoos that I have reviewed thus far (1, 2) are very considerate of textured hair’s tendency to be dry. They all have offered the ability to cleanse well without leaving the hair stripped and dry — Superfruit Renewal Shampoo is no different.

The Melt-Down mask is great, but at $40 did you see the small stature of the jar?

And of course, you know I was super disappointed in the Whipped Curls and Curling Souffle.

Have you tried any of these Ouidad products? Do you have a fav?

I used the whipped curls as a conditioner and its excellent as that! I return the $40 mask for price reasons. The other 3 I still use, but won’t be repurchasing.
