5 Things That Remind Me It’s Summer

reminds me of summer

POPSICLES!
After the winter we’ve had, I for one welcome the warmer summer months, even if it means a few days of sweltering heat. A little shade and something cold to cool you off, like a popsicle, always does the trick. I’m a lover of all fruits tropical so a mango popsicle is right up my ally. HonestlyYum has a great recipe, sans the tequila and chile powder for me, which tastes great!

BRIGHT MANI-PEDIS
Vibrant and bold nails are always a sign that the warmer months are in full effect. Nothing brightens my mood like a fresh mani and pedi. I always feel #somekindaway about sporting my favorite color, turquoise, at other times of the year so undoubtedly, like clock work, it makes an appearance  every summer. Every once in a while I get a little fancy with nail art and try a thing or two like the batik nail art.

SMOOTH SKIN
Maxi dresses, skirts, shorts. What’s summer without those essentials? In all instances skin will be visible. Stubble, whether your underarm, bikini, or legs, it isn’t highly desirable and shaving every other day isn’t either. At-home waxing is a great option which saves money and time. Did I mention how neat the application happens to be? No more jars of hot wax. Just warm the strips by rubbing in your hand, peel them apart, place on the desired area, smooth in the direction of hair growth and grab! Not much different than you favorite wax lady. With Veet Ready-to-Use Wax Strips Hair Remover Bikini, Underarms, & Face, you are free to enjoy up to 28 days of smooth!

COOKOUTS
Hot dogs and hamburgers are known summer grilling staples. Healthier food choices like vegetables grilled with a twist are great viable options! Note — be very careful when selecting produce. Be sure the 5 digit code on the sticker does not begin with an 8 — this indicates the item is a genetically modified organism (GMO). Instead, look for a 4 (conventionally grown) or 9 (organic).  This Mexican street corn looks quite scrumptious, doesn’t it?!

TRAVEL
If you’re like myself and work with kids, you know summer is the season most families travel. So when my clients travel, so do I! As a native of the Caribbean, a vacation complete with a secluded beach and frozen drink is just a plane ticket away and accommodations courtesy of family #CheapVacay. Here are a few photos from one of my trips back home.

What do you look forward to every summer?

I love summer the most because i hate wearing clothes so maxi dresses are my favorite go-to outfit because it’s literally one piece of clothing. sometimes i skip undergarments, depending on my destination! LOL 😀

are you planning to attend any natural hair events/conventions this year! They all start to be the same but I am attending the one in DC August 22nd through the 24th… I would love to travel and see a different natural hair event

Usually if I’m at an event, it would be located in Atlanta. The World Natural Hair Show is pretty big here It happens in April and October of every year.
