Love Shea Moisture? Trying to decide which of their new releases to start with? The Jamaican Black Castor Oil Treatment Mask or Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intense Hydration Hair Masque? Let me help you.
Subjectively, the most important components of any product line typically are the deep conditioner and/or finishing styler (i.e. moisturizing cream which also has hold). Why?
- The deep conditioner brings the hair back to life after being stripped, due to cleansing
- The finishing styler produces the final product, which is most visible to yourself and others
In the case of Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil and their Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil line, the one product both have in common is a deep conditioner. Generally when I want to determine the superiority of already great conditioners, I test them using a side-by-side method.
I parted my freshly washed hair down the middle and added each conditioner to a side. Each remained on my hair for about 6 hours with use of a therapy wrap. Upon rinsing there was a noticeable difference in the way my hair hung, the smoothness and definition of my drenched curls and then softness that remained after squeezing the excess water.
The conditioner which achieved the most favorable results on my hair was the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intense Hydration Hair Masque. If you have wavered between which line to try first, I recommend the aforementioned.
