Just a few weeks ago I did a photo review of these products. I had high hopes for both of them considering that I really liked CRN’s Jansyn’s Moisture Max conditioner. So how did it go with these two? Read on.

Algae Deep Conditioning Mask
Before ordering this conditioner I expected something green and slimy — what I got was the complete opposite. There are little green specs throughout the product which I assume are algae but it is probably thee thickest conditioner I’ve ever used. It is damn near thicker than the twisting butter (o_0). I like that!  Also, the fragrance is warm and almost food-like, but pleasant. As a matter of fact, all of the CRN products I’ve have a similar scent.

It was applied to wet hair and even though it is quite thick, it did spread pretty smoothly. I used the relaxer method the  relaxer method to apply as usual and left on for 1.5 hrs. Surprisingly, I didn’t use much to cover my entire head of hair, going section by section. I actually have enough left for 3-4 more applications — EASY. Reading the label (ingredients + product claim) I had some expectation that my hair probably not be its softest, as this is a strengthening treatment. Wrong!  My hair was soft, curls were defined and blow drying was a breeze.

Almond Jai Twisting Butter
Prior to twisting, my hair was blow dried using the tension method for stretched twists and ultimately a stretched twist out. This butter is quite wet so my twists were plump, but not as smooth as I’d like, even with using a minimal amount.  After twisting I did not add anything because I wanted to see how this product performed on its own but I really think this butter required a sealant to help maintain the moisture.

On a positive note, I can honestly say my hair dried quickly, was defined and ready to be twisted out a few hours after initially twisting — though I typically leave my twists in for a week.

The next morning my hair was not as soft as it was immediately after twisting but I bunned the twists and kept it pushing for a few days, applying the butter once more throughout the week. I eventually got the point where I could not take how dry my hair felt.  I broke down and added one of my fav oils before  twisting out. After releasing the twists I was pleased with the definition, but not happy about the dryness and lack of smoothness.

All in all, I would repurchase the Algae Deep Conditioning Mask, but probably not the Almond Jai Twisting Butter — I will continue to use the remainder of the butter but making sure to follow with a sealant to ensure my hair stays moisturized.

What has been your experience with Camille Rose products?

I’ve used the Moisture Milk from her line, which I must say is AMAZING. It instantly detangles both dry and wet hair.

I experinced the same dryness and lack of moisture when I used Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter (old formula). Basically, I wasnt impressed.

The Almond Jai Twisting Butter is soooo moisturizing. This product also makes your twists and curls pop.
I also purchased the Algae Deep Conditioning Mask. Camille Rose products have become staplers
in my hair regime.

westNDNbeauty March 10, 2013 at 10:58 pm

I have purchased both the DC and the Almond Jai Twisting Butter and it provides great moisture and divine definition. I have never had such great definition in any other product. It has become two of my staple products. I’ m sorry that results were minimal.
