I personally do not subscribe to any ‘box’ services, but a few have come my way for review consideration. Of course, I don’t publish articles on every product I receive, but I feel this one deserves a mention.

We Are Onyx is a subscription service ($25) created by and curated just for us brown girls. Here’s how OnyxBox is different from the rest:

      • All of the products sent in your box are available to purchase in one place. No web hunting.
      • Each month 4 products are pre-selected and the subscriber gets to select one more for a total of 5 sent monthly.
      • Features not only hair products, but beauty, skin, and home products alike.
      • You have the ability to purchase gift cards for someone special, which allows them to purchase products on the website.

Without further adieu, my first impressions of each product in June’s OnyxBox…

Lottabody Moisturize Me ($4)  Smells yummy and very tropical (similar to coconut sun tan oil) and is very thick. Initial use on the ends of my already twisted hair did not yield results/moisture to write home about, but this may work better on freshly washed hair. Btw, since when does Lotta Body have products other than the setting lotion?! O_0

Herban Body Care Shea Moisturizer ($14) Though, much like a balm, the formula is quite soft and the ginger scent is very citrusy.

Philip B. Botanicals White Truffle  Shampoo ($16)  Smells very earthy. I haven’t used it yet since wash day is a few days away, but I am really curious as to why a 2 oz product is $16! #LawdPleaseDontLetMeLikeThisShampoo

C. Booth Nourishing Dry Oil Mist ($8) This oil is quite light and conveniently contained in a spray bottle. The scent is very warm and a definite winner for post-shower and bath moisturizing. I have the honey almond scented oil.

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Lacquer ($18) This red (rodeo drive) is a very rich and bright. I haven’t completed an entire manicure, but one coat appears reasonably opaque, but I will still use two coats for good measure.

In addition to all of these products, a coupon for 50% off of AJ Crimson was included. Coincidentally, before receiving my OnyxBox, I came across a few photos of AJ’s Dual Skin Cream on IG and have been interested in trying them ever since. I guess there is no time like the present…and 50% off.

How much is the subscription service?

That would be a helpful piece of info, now wouldn’t it 🙂 I’ll add it into the description — $25
